Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a part-time Registration Associate to gather patient demographics and financial information, assign rooms, and escort patients to their destinations. This role supports the admissions process with attention to accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

The position involves answering phones, obtaining signatures, scanning documents, pre-registering tests, and maintaining safety and infection control standards. Evening shift with weekend rotation, 24 hours per pay period.

Qualifications

• English literacy and clear communication with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Completion of Medical Secretary program or related office training.
• 1 year medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration).
• Strong computer skills including Windows; familiarity with database software.
• Ability to maintain a professional image under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient demographic and financial information and obtains signatures.
• Answers phones and communicates bed assignments to house supervisor.
• Informs patient of hospital regulations, secures armband and signatures.
• Pre-registers scheduled tests and scans information/documents.
• Adheres to safety, infection control, HIPAA and EMTALA policies.
