Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Iowa seeks a patient access representative to support outpatient and inpatient registration and insurance verification. You will interact with patients and families, collect payments, and provide general information to hospital users and physician offices.

The role involves documenting data in the patient accounting system, handling multiple patient types, and ensuring compliance with financial requirements including Medicare prerequisites and referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within 1 year of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
• Experience in patient access is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Validate, obtain and enter demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system.
• Register patients in various settings and for multiple patient types (inpatient, outpatient, ED, etc.).
• Prepare patient estimates and collect liabilities at check-in with receipts documented.
• Obtain signed physician orders for tests and procedures.
• Prepare IDs and signatures on required forms and secure valuables when needed.
