Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Access Specialist in Illinois to deliver patient-centered service across registration, scheduling, and insurance verification. You will uphold HIPAA, collect demographics, and support physicians and hospital departments to ensure accurate, timely patient flow.

Day-to-day duties include responding to inquiries, performing eligibility checks, printing orders, and documenting encounters in Epic.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Responds to questions and concerns.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Interacts with departments to schedule patients and direct them through NMHC systems.
• Performs medical necessity checks and communicates options if appointments fail.
• Documents encounters in Epic and ensures accurate data in registration notes.
