Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department to ensure a welcoming patient experience and accurate enrollment in care. The role operates on-site with a Monday–Sunday schedule, 11:00am–7:30pm, including every other weekend and holiday obligations, and an on-call component approximately 24 hours every 10–12 weeks.

The incumbent will handle registrations, insurance verification, and scheduling while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service in a business setting.
• Ability to process electronic demographics and financial data accurately.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and explain the registration process.
• Process co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles and balances due.
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjust coverage.
• Obtain signatures on consent/financial forms and file documents.
• Counsel patients on non-covered services and ABNs.
• Monitor waiting area to ensure a smooth registration flow.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments using multiple information sources.
• Maintain confidentiality and secure patient information.
