Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a 32-hour Patient Access Representative for the Beverly ER. This role supports the Emergency Department Registration and insurance verification team, with a schedule every other weekend and holiday and an on-call rotation about every 10 weeks.

You will register patients, process payments, complete eligibility checks, manage scheduling, and ensure confidentiality and smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree preferred.
1-3 years related work experience.
Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office.
Familiar with EHR software.

Responsibilities

Register patients and explain registration process.
Process co-payments and balances; reconcile cash drawer daily.
Assist patients with Kiosk check-in and ABN signatures.
Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjust coverage.
Counsel patients on non-covered services and payment responsibilities.
Maintain neat registration desk and protect patient confidentiality.
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments; coordinate with departments.
Verify insurance eligibility in real-time and assign guarantor.
Communicate financial clearance status to patients.
