Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients, delivering high-quality service aligned with Mercy Service Standards. The position requires 1–3 years of clerical and customer service experience, familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans, and a High School diploma

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all components of the patient’s entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, and pre-certification.
• Conduct benefit verification and financial clearance, including pre-visit collections.
• Explain patient financial responsibility, payment options, and available financial assistance resources.
• Document outcomes of financial conversations and ensure accurate patient data in records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, hospital staff, and insurance companies.
