Job summary

Northwestern Medical Center is seeking a Practice Support Specialist I to join the Physician Services team. This on-site role supports patient registration, appointment scheduling, and phone inquiries within a busy clinic, generally 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.

The successful candidate will cross-train across offices and contribute to a patient-first experience. Qualifications include a high school diploma, medical office clerical experience, familiarity with EHR and billing systems,

Qualifications

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: Prior clerical work in a medical office; knowledge of medical terminology; typing skills.
  • Experience with an electronic health record, medical billing, insurance claims, medical records, and/or patient registration preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with a multi-line phone system.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and schedule appointments.
  • Answer phones in a professional manner and manage inquiries.
  • Assist with patient checkout and follow-up scheduling.
  • Verify insurances and collect copays/payments as needed.
  • Manage medical records, scans, and referrals; cross-train across offices.
