Essentia Health in Duluth, MN seeks a part-time Patient Access Representative to greet customers and manage patient registration, scheduling, and billing workflows. The role includes collecting demographics, insurance details, and co-pays, and serving as a liaison with Virtual PPR and Patient Schedulers.

The position supports cross-functional teams, handles inquiries, and ensures accurate data entry and compliance across patient registrations. Day/Eve shifts and rotating weekends are involved.

Qualifications

• Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information to ensure appropriate care.
• Obtains copies of insurance cards and other forms of identification, and updates patient information in the medical record.
• Performs point of service data collection, including identifying and collecting patient co-payments and down payments, reconciles the cash drawer.
• Maintains all assigned work queues and provides high level customer service.
• Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, and coordinates with clinical team as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information to ensure appropriate care provision
• Obtains copies of insurance cards and other forms of identification, and updates patient information in the medical record as necessary
• Performs point of service data collection, including identifying and collecting patient co-payments, reconciles the cash drawer, and reports daily deposit records
• Maintains all assigned work queues according to supervisor’s instructions
• Interacts positively and in a caring manner with patients and staff
• Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, and refers to clinical team as needed
• Sanitizes registration equipment and restocks basic supplies
• Performs other clerical duties as assigned
