Job summary

Essentia Health’s Deer River Clinic is seeking a patient access-oriented professional to greet customers and facilitate the registration process. You will collect demographics, financial information, and insurance details, schedule follow-ups, and provide cost estimates for upcoming visits.

You will liaise with Virtual Patient Registration Representatives and Patient Schedulers, ensuring accurate data entry and compliant billing.

Qualifications

• Interviews patients to obtain demographic details and financial information
• Experience collecting co-pays and handling cash
• Schedule follow-up appointments and provide cost estimates

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information to ensure appropriate care provision
• Obtains copies of insurance cards and other forms of identification, updates patient information in the medical record
• Performs point of service data collection, including identifying and collecting patient co-payments and down payments, reconciles the cash drawer, reports daily deposit records
• Maintains all assigned work queues according to supervisor’s instructions
• Interacts positively and in a caring manner with patients, co-workers, and others
• Answers incoming phone calls, schedules appointments, and refers to clinical team as needed
• Sanitizes registration equipment between each use and restocks basic supplies
• Other clerical duties as assigned
