Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a patient access professional to greet patients, gather demographics and billing information, and facilitate registration and scheduling. You will interact with patients face-to-face and virtually, coordinate with Virtual Patient Registration Representatives and Patient Schedulers, and provide cost estimates for upcoming visits.

The role emphasizes accurate data collection, cash handling for co-pays, and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Patient Access Representative or Patient Scheduler is preferred.
• Completion of Healthcare Business Insight’s Patient Access 2nd Level Certification within six months of hire date.
• Ability to provide courteous, professional patient service and accurate data collection.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain demographic, financial, and health information for registration and billing.
• Collects insurance copies and IDs, updating the medical record as needed.
• Handles point of service data collection, co-payments, and reconciles cash receipts.
• Maintains work queues per supervisor guidance and supports team workflows.
• Provides caring, helpful patient interactions and routes inquiries to the clinical team.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments, and references clinical staff when needed.
• sanitizes registration equipment between uses and restocks supplies.
• Performs other clerical duties as assigned.
