Job summary

South Shore Health in Weymouth, MA, is seeking a Part-time Patient Access Coordinator for the Emergency Department from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, 20 hours per week. You will identify, register, and schedule patients, manage insurance eligibility, and collect copayments while maintaining high accuracy and patient-centered service.

You will collaborate with Patient Flow Facilitators, Nursing Leadership, and physicians to optimize bed placement and ensure efficient patient movement within the health

Qualifications

• Minimum one year admitting experience or relevant registration experience.
• Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical insurance and patient identification procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for patients entering the health system.
• Identify, register, and schedule patients with 98% accuracy.
• Collect copayments and monitor workflow in the EHR.
• Coordinate bed placement with care teams and physicians as needed.
• Support documentation for death certificates and regulatory requirements.
• Operate department computer programs and manage downtime processes.
• Schedule and register elective, emergent, and urgent care visits.
