Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an administrative associate for ambulatory care in Worcester, MA. The role involves coordinating appointments, verifying demographics and insurance, and guiding patients through payment and consent processes.

Responsibilities include assisting with financial counseling, coordinating interpreter services, and directing patients to appropriate resources, while maintaining excellent communication with care teams, patients, and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3 years related experience required or waived with degree.
• Ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems.
• Must be multifunctional and work under stressful situations.
• Excellent communication and human relations skills.
• Knowledge of business office procedures and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors and/or patients for scheduled or urgent care appointments and procedures.
• Confirms and verifies patient demographic and insurance information.
• May collect co-payments from patients upon arrival.
• Obtains signatures of consent for treatment authorization and insurance/billing information.
• Assess patients’ needs, including financial counseling, interpreter services, social services and refers appropriately.
