Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED.
  • 1 year physician practice experience.
  • On-site training at least one week provided.
  • Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • IDX or other practice management system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
  • Verify that physician accepts presented insurance; verify prior to visit or at arrival.
  • Notify staff about patient arrival and ensure medical records are available.
  • Process HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary.
  • Collect co-pays and provide receipts following cash-control procedures.
  • May schedule follow-up appointments and provide patient with records request guidelines.
  • May perform simple charge entry or process payments and prepare deposits.
  • Answer phones for the practice and schedule appointments in a call-center capacity.
  • Follow HIPAA and PHI handling requirements.
  • Initiate reminder calls for next day appointments.
  • Perform other related duties.
