Qualifications

• Three years of experience in healthcare setting/call center or customer service operations or successful completion of one-year Houston Methodist Call Center Apprenticeship in lieu of years of experience
• Healthcare setting knowledge and experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology preferred
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential functions
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers with a customer service focus
• Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and ability to navigate multiple software applications

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to use critical thinking and healthcare knowledge to manage scheduling, registration, and verification processes
• Serves as the front door of Houston Methodist, assisting patients with scheduling and registration using computerized systems
• Triages calls and provides information to prepare for appointments per protocol
• Follows scripting and policies to schedule appointments and ensure HIPAA compliance
• Maintains open communication with physicians, patients, and departments to resolve issues and ensure timely service
