Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in hospital/clinic or customer-service environment.
• Preferred certifications in healthcare access (CHAM/CHAA) or Medical Assistant.
• Must have data-entry and data retrieval skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficient with Windows and role-specific software.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and billing regulations.
• Ability to stay organized and handle stress.
• Ability to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and families.
• Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
• Ensure all required forms are completed and other paperwork/documents are gathered and accurate.
• Efficiently and accurately gather inputs and enter patient/guarantor demographic and financial information; explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles and self-pay portions.
• Perform financial analysis of each case and inform patient of financial responsibility.
• Balance cash drawer daily and handle deposits and close-out procedures.
• Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and resolve conflicts.
• Adapt communication to the specific patient population and maintain privacy.
• Other related duties as required.
