Job summary

Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a Central Scheduling Specialist to manage scheduling, pre-registration, and pre-authorization activities. You will be the first point of contact for patients and coordinate with physicians and departments to ensure accurate appointments and information flow.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance verification procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with hospital/physician office registration and scheduling preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding methodologies helpful.
• Coding or Medical Terminology certificate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answers inbound calls professionally per department protocol and identifies themselves at the start of the call.
• Accurately completes patient-registration for new Penn Medicine Princeton Health patients and verifies demographics for NJDDCS compliance.
• Verifies insurance eligibility, secures referrals and pre-certifications prior to the appointment, and communicates requirements to patients.
• Schedules appointments, coordinates with providers/departments, and updates scheduling blocks and cadences.
• Provides information on test preparations and directs patients to testing locations as needed.
• Maintains accurate data in scheduling systems and collaborates with staff to expedite services.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of government reimbursement & insurance regulations

Minimum two years hospital/physician office scheduling experience

Coding or Medical Terminology certificate preferred
