Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Registration and Scheduling Specialist in the Surgery Vascular department in Albany, NY. You will register patients, update insurance information, schedule visits, and coordinate patient appointments while interacting with a diverse patient population.

You will use the electronic medical record to maintain patient records, ensure payer requirements are met, and support the clinical workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years office experience or related medical practice experience preferred.
• Experience using an electronic health record and Microsoft Office a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills a must.
• Ability to multi-task in a high patient volume unit.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Good judgement and ability to collaborate with team.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, update insurance information, schedule visits and coordinate appointment scheduling.
• Interact with a diverse patient population and maintain professionalism.
• Utilize the electronic medical record to maintain patient records and scanning tasks.
• Communicate with providers, patients, care teams and insurers in a timely manner.
• Answer incoming calls and direct to the appropriate team members.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Support registration and scheduling for complex patients and update systems accordingly.
• Prepare patient disability and related paperwork as needed.
• Explain financial obligations and regulatory forms to patients and families.
• Work across multiple systems to support registration and clinical workflow.
• Align with Albany Med CARES principles and safety goals.
