Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill is seeking a Care Access Specialist to serve as the information hub for patients, staff, and physicians. You will assist with patient registration, scheduling outpatient appointments, and coordinating messages across departments.

The role requires 3 years of customer service or clerical experience and a high school diploma or GED. This is a full-time, onsite position with day hours and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of customer service and/or clerical experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy.

Responsibilities

• Ensures excellent customer service in a busy call center or outpatient clinic.
• Verifies key patient information for registration, scheduling, and billing accuracy.
• Schedules patient appointments and communicates cancellations to providers.
• Manages referrals for multiple clinics following policies and procedures.
• Answers calls, directs calls, and delivers messages in Epic.
• Demonstrates teamwork, proactive communication, and willingness to improve processes.
• Participates in departmental QA to reduce errors and improve accuracy.
• Precepts new co-workers and responds to patient messages in two-way texting and clinic workflows.
• Other admin work as needed.
