Job summary

UNC Health in Cary, NC seeks a detail-oriented Scheduling Clerk to ensure accurate and complete scheduling of procedures. You will gather demographic data, obtain physician orders, communicate prep instructions, and support registration for managed care and government payors.

This full-time, onsite role offers a daytime schedule and a competitive hourly pay range. High school diploma or GED required; healthcare exposure and strong customer service are preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and organizational skills are required.
• Medical terminology desired.
• Experience in healthcare settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of scheduled procedures; consistently obtain accurate demographic information and gather prior records when necessary.
• Clearly communicate procedure and prep information to patients and physician office staff.
• Obtain accurate and valid physician orders for all procedures.
• Maintain productivity and customer satisfaction goals.
• Distribute updated department schedules with complete and accurate clinical information.
• Maintain current knowledge of diagnostic procedures and scheduling software.
• Serve as departmental receptionist and office assistant as needed.
• Perform registrations for patients, including contract registration for Managed Care patients and complete registrations for Government Payors.
