Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to manage the patient intake workflow in our clinic. You will greet patients in person and by phone, verify demographics, insurance, collect payments, schedule appointments, and handle referrals and authorizations.

Ideal candidates bring strong customer service, critical thinking, and knowledge of billing, insurance, and medical terminology to ensure a seamless, high-quality intake experience at all touchpoints.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service work experience.
• Healthcare or Call Center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register and check patients in/out.
• Performs patient check-in and verifies all demographic, insurance and other information.
• Conducts routine insurance eligibility verifications.
• Collects co-pays and other fees; posts payments to patient accounts.
• Balances cash drawers and performs end-of-day reconciliation.
• Schedules appointments and coordinates referrals/pre-authorizations.
• Provides information on health plan coverage; answers billing/insurance questions.
• Arranges for special needs such as transportation or interpreters.
