Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED required.
• At least 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training of one week will be provided.
• Experience in a medical office setting and using scheduling software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify insurance to ensure the physician is accepted and confirm before visit if possible.
• Coordinate communications with staff to ensure patient records are available for physicians.
• Process HIPAA paperwork and other forms as needed.
• Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
• Monitor waiting room status and communicate wait times to patients.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts following cash-control procedures.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and guide patients on requesting medical records.
• May perform simple charge entry or enter payments and prepare cash deposits.
• Handle calls in a practice-wide center environment and answer phones to schedule appointments.
• Follow HIPAA and all PHI handling requirements.
• May initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments.
• Perform other related duties.
