Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Coordinator I in New York, NY. You will greet patients, verify insurance, and update demographics in the practice management system to ensure proper coverage for physician visits.

You will coordinate with staff to ensure patient records are available for physicians, manage HIPAA paperwork, collect referrals, and assist with scheduling and reminders. Training is provided on-site, with emphasis on accurate data entry and patient service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year physician practice experience.
• Minimum one week of on-site training provided by the practice.
• Prefer experience in a medical office setting using a physician scheduling computer system.
• IDX or other practice management system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify insurance at arrival or before visit to ensure coverage.
• Coordinate with staff to ensure patient records are available for physicians.
• Handle HIPAA paperwork and other forms as required.
• Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as needed.
• Monitor waiting room status and inform patients of wait times.
