Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED is required.
• 1 year physician practice experience is required.
• On-site training for at least one week will be provided.
• Experience in a medical office and using scheduling systems is preferred.
• IDX or other practice management system experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify that patients have appropriate insurance for the physician they are seeing.
• Ensure patient records and arrival times are managed and communicated to staff.
• Handle HIPAA paperwork and related institutional forms.
• Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations as needed.
• Monitor waiting room status and communicate wait times to patients.
• Collect co-pays and provide receipts per cash-control procedures.
• May schedule follow-up appointments and provide medical records request guidelines.
• May perform simple charge entry or record payments and prepare deposit (mutually exclusive with other duties).
• Respond to calls in a call center capacity for the Faculty Practice Associates.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments.
• Follow HIPAA and other PHI handling requirements.
• May initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments.
