Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is hiring a Patient Coordinator I to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and coordinate care in a busy clinical setting.

The role covers insurance verification, scheduling, HIPAA compliance, and basic charge entry tasks. Training is provided on-site, and prior medical office experience is preferred to support smooth patient flow and accurate record keeping.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• 1 year physician practice experience.
• On-site training for at least one week provided by the practice.
• Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• IDX or other practice management system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
• Verify that physicians accept the patients' insurance; confirm at arrival if not done prior to visit.
• Notify staff about patient arrivals and ensure medical records are ready for the physician.
• Process HIPAA paperwork and other institutional forms as needed.
• Obtain referrals or insurance authorizations as required.
• Monitor waiting room status and update patients on wait times.
