Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Coordinator I to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth arrivals and access to records. The role may include call-center duties in the Faculty Practice Associates group.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED, at least 1 year of physician practice experience, and familiarity with practice management systems or IDX. Training on-site will be provided.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate/GED.
  • 1 year physician practice experience.
  • Must have a minimum of one week training on-site which will be provided by practice.
  • Prefer experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling.
  • IDX or other practice management system experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in person or via telephone and update insurance/demographics in the practice management system.
  • Verify insurance prior to arrival or at time of arrival if not previously done.
  • Communicate with staff to ensure patient records are available for the physician.
  • Process HIPAA-related paperwork and other forms as necessary.
  • Collect co-pays and provide receipts following cash-control procedures.
  • May schedule follow-up appointments and provide records request guidelines.
  • May perform simple charge entry tasks or enter payments collected from patients.
