Job summary

Mercyhealth seeks an experienced access specialist to manage pre-registration, referrals, and patient scheduling across the Mercyhealth system. You will coordinate with providers, payers, and patients to ensure accurate data, eligibility, and timely payment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or physicians’ office experience required.
• Healthcare revenue cycle related certification or an equivalent certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register visits and certify/authorize accounts before service date.
• Handle referrals/authorizations/pre-certifications in systems.
• Answer calls and route to appropriate departments.
• Register new and returning patients across Mercyhealth systems.
• Initiate outbound calls to providers, patients, and payers.
• Comply with Access and Revenue Cycle policies and procedures.
• Manage waitlists and rescheduling/cancellations.
• Document activity in EMR and patient accounting systems.
