Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Access Services Representative 1 to collect demographic and insurance information and help register patients across multiple locations.

Role focuses on verifying benefits, collecting patient responsibilities, and assisting with transitions between departments to improve the patient experience. Strong communication and data-entry skills are essential in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience requested.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification and billing.
• Registers patients at multiple locations and works in different department areas; identifies process improvement opportunities that promote team concepts and improves revenue cycle functions and patient experience.
• Interacts with other areas to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies patient eligibility for insurance coverage and benefit levels; collects patient dues according to policies; establishes patient liability and guides on deposits; negotiates payment arrangements as needed.
• May perform cashiering duties following policies and could be the main responsibility in the department.
• Assists patients to nursing units with directions, escorts, and mobility assistance when applicable.
• Adheres to compliance with order validations, cash policy, government payors, and patient safety requirements for proper ID.
• Escalates service issues to management when necessary.
