Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification and billing.
• Registers patients at multiple locations and works in different department areas; identifies process improvements to promote teamwork and revenue cycle efficiency.
• Interacts with other areas to provide information on delays and schedule changes.
• Verifies eligibility for insurance coverage and benefit levels; collects patient dues per policy; negotiates payment arrangements as needed.
• May perform cashiering duties following policies; could be the department's main responsibility.
• Assists patients to nursing units with directions, escorts, and mobility assistance where applicable.
• Ensures compliance with order validations, cash policies, government payors, and patient safety for proper ID.
• Escalates potential service issues to management when necessary.
