Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Access Services Representative 2 to collect demographics, verify insurance, and manage patient financial responsibilities. The role requires cross-training and mentoring peers, with broad exposure across assigned areas.

You will engage with patients and families, ensure accurate data, and support efficient registration and billing processes while upholding compliance and service standards.

Qualifications

• 2 years healthcare or customer service experience or education equivalency required.
• Good listening, interpersonal and communication skills with telephone etiquette.
• Professional demeanor in stressful and emotional environments including trauma.
• High empathy and ability to communicate with patients and families during trauma.
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and calmly.
• Excellent data entry, numeric, typing and computer navigation skills.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing.
• Know the patient flow processes in each area.
• Identify process improvements to promote teamwork and revenue cycle efficiency.
• Interact with other areas to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.
• Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage and collect patient liability per policies.
• Establish patient liabilities and advise deposit requirements; negotiate payment plans as needed.
• May perform cashiering duties following established policies.
• Assist patients to nursing units with directions, escorts, or mobility aid as needed.
• Adhere to compliance for order validation, cash policy, government payors, and patient safety.
• Conduct formal training and act as a resource to others.
• Proactively accept new responsibilities and perform revenue cycle duties across locations.
