Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Registrar to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and complete registrations for walk-ins. You will collect patient liabilities, follow financial clearance procedures, and refer complex cases to a Financial Counselor. Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules and excellent communication are essential.

Public relations with patients and staff, adherence to productivity targets, and accuracy are critical in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience in patient access, scheduling or financial clearance preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid policies and third-party payer requirements.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and manages flow for efficient, courteous service.
• Completes walk-in registrations; updates demographics and insurance information.
• Collects out-of-pocket liability and outstanding balances as applicable.
• Follows Financial Clearance policies and refers to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Updates knowledge on Medicare, Medicaid and payer requirements.
• Communicates process improvements to management.
• Meets productivity and accuracy targets; maintains professional relations with patients and staff.
