The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, at least 6 months in healthcare or 1 year in customer service, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum typing speed of 50 wpm.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• Technical capacity.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• High school diploma or GED.
• 6+ months healthcare setting or 1 year customer service experience.
• Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology/billing codes preferred.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in person and over the phone; provide welcome, friendly service.
• Register patients and update demographics in electronic systems; verify insurance and collect payments.
• Ensure accurate registration information for clean billing; perform visit closure activities.
• Provide directions and general information to patients and visitors.
• Check patients in and out; collect copayments and coinsurance.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits; follow up with payers as needed.
• Assist with clerical duties: copying, scanning, faxing, filing.
• Create and maintain patient files; manage messages and phone calls.
