Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Hospital Admitting Clerk to accurately collect patient demographics, insurance data, and signatures. You will verify coverage and arrange pre-authorizations for visits, and schedule imaging and lab services within a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires strong data-entry, customer service, and English communication skills; previous hospital admissions or billing experience is a plus. A signing bonus may be available during interview.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or certificate in healthcare field preferred.
• Proficient data-entry with attention to detail.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills; customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter demographic, insurance and related patient information into the registration system and collect signatures on paperwork.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization and referrals as needed.
• Schedule radiology, lab and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Assist with patient billing, payments and financial counseling referrals.
• Maintain accurate records and respond to inquiries; support revenue cycle tasks.
