Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Care in Massachusetts is seeking a Registration Services professional to support patient intake and insurance verification. You will enter demographic and coverage information, verify authorizations, and schedule radiology, labs, and other services.

You’ll manage patient accounts, collect balances, and coordinate care across departments. The role emphasizes accuracy, customer service, and the ability to work in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to navigate Windows-based systems and applications.
• Excellent verbal and written customer service skills.
• Capable of working in a high-volume, team-oriented setting.
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtains and enters demographic, insurance and related patient information.
• Verifies insurance coverage and ensures pre-authorization and referrals when required.
• Obtains and verifies workman’s comp and auto coverage when needed.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab, and ancillary service appointments.
• Completes demographic/insurance collection for ED and Labor & Delivery.
• Coordinates provision of multiple services to patients.
• Collects patient liabilities (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, etc.).
• Performs Surgical Day admissions.
• Manages bed control, transfers, discharges, and admissions tasks.
• Provides information on personal preparation for procedures.
• Screens patients' financial needs and refers to financial counseling.
• Performs related clerical duties: records, faxing, typing, transcriptions, etc.
• Maintains accurate records and manages queues for revenue cycle.
• Completes online death certificate registry when required.
• Receives and secures patient valuables.
