Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an admissions specialist for a full-time role. Responsibilities include entering demographic data, verifying insurance, scheduling services and assisting with patient billing in a high-volume environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with preferred associates degree in healthcare. A signing bonus may be available, and shifts run 7:30a-4p with every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or healthcare-related certificate preferred.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters demographic, insurance and other patient information into the registration/scheduling system and collects signatures on HIPAA and consent forms.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and coordinates pre-authorization and referrals as required.
• Obtains and verifies workers' compensation and auto coverage when needed.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab and basic ancillary services and handles admission-related tasks.
• Manages patient billing items such as balances, coinsurance and copays as appropriate.
