Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registration Services professional to register patients, verify insurance, schedule radiology and lab appointments, and collect balances. The role supports ED, Labor & Delivery, and other services, ensuring accurate data entry and timely documentation.

The position emphasizes high-volume, team-oriented work, strong customer service, and knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate patient access and financial counseling when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-2 years of data entry experience.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills both verbal and written.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a high volume, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtains and enters demographic, insurance and other related patient information into the computer-based patient registration/scheduling system.
• Obtains and verifies patient insurance coverage and ensures pre-authorization, pre-certification, and physician referrals.
• Verifies workman’s compensation and automobile coverage when required.
• Schedules and/or arranges Radiology, Lab, and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Manages demographic and insurance collection for ED and Labor & Delivery.
• Coordinates provision of multiple services to patients.
