Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registration and Patient Access Clerk to accurately collect and enter patient demographics and insurance data, verify coverage, and coordinate scheduling for Radiology, Lab and other services. You will support admissions, discharges, and billing processes while maintaining complete, compliant records.

Qualifications

• Proficient data-entry skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to navigate computer systems effectively (Windows).
• Strong verbal and written customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, team-oriented environment.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills required.
• Preferred: 1–2 years in data entry or customer service; hospital admissions/insurance/billing experience; insurance verification; bilingual; medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters demographic, insurance and related patient information into the registration system with signatures on paperwork.
• Verifies insurance coverage; ensures pre-authorization and referrals when required.
• Obtains workman’s compensation and auto coverage when needed.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab and ancillary service appointments.
• Completes ED and Labor & Delivery demographic/insurance collection.
• Coordinates multiple services for patients and collects patient liabilities before or at service.
• Performs admissions, bed transfers, discharges and related tasks.
• Maintains patient records, logs and related information; handles death certificate registry.
• Provides information about patient preparation for procedures; directs to financial counseling as needed.
• Maintains PR and revenue cycle work queues to ensure timely billing.
