Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Registration Clerk to support patient registration and scheduling in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will verify insurance, collect patient information, and coordinate appointments across departments.

Responsibilities include data-entry accuracy, customer service with diverse patients, and adherence to HIPAA documentation. This role offers a base schedule with rotating weekends and holidays at a busy central Massachusetts campus.

Qualifications

• Proficient data-entry with attention to detail.
• Ability to navigate a computer-based patient registration/scheduling system.
• Excellent customer service, verbal and written, with diverse internal/external customers.
• English speaking, reading, and writing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtains and enters demographic, insurance and related patient information into the registration system and collects signatures where required.
• Obtains and verifies patient insurance coverage and follows guidelines for pre-authorization and referrals.
• Schedules Radiology, Lab and basic ancillary services appointments and completes ED/ Labor & Delivery data collection.
• Collects patient liabilities (deductibles, copays, coinsurance) prior to or on date of service.
• Performs clerical duties and maintains accurate records, logs and files.
