Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access Representative for evenings (16 hours/week) to support outpatient and ED registration. You will greet patients, verify information, collect payments, and coordinate with clinical teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires excellent customer service, basic computer skills, and familiarity with medical terminology. Experience in health care is preferred; Epic knowledge is a plus. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly required.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Previous medical administrative experience and/or health care related education courses preferred.
• Knowledge of health information system (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patients in hospital information system to maintain EMR integrity.
• Identify and report possible identity theft to clinical department and leadership for escalation.
• Maintain knowledge of network policy on Patient Identification including Merge, Chart Corrections, and Patient Look-Up.
• Handle patient registration (pre-reg and post-reg) including demographics, emergency contact, orders, diagnosis, insurance and guarantor verification, real-time eligibility, cash collections.
• Cross-train across locations and areas (outpatient and ED) as needed.
• Greet/direct patients and visitors, provide friendly service, enforce visitor policy.
• Promote MyChart portal and patient self-service to engage patients in their care.
• Assist with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology for online scheduling and arrival monitoring.
• Coordinate with SLPG practices or Prior Authorization to obtain referrals/pre-certifications to reduce denials.
• Obtain medical license number, NPI and UPIN for new provider entries to ensure proper routing and submission.
