Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a patient access specialist for the Pulmonary Medicine department in Rome, GA. The role supports front-desk operations, verifies insurance and demographics, and handles registration for walk-in patients. The position requires strong communication and computer skills in Outlook, Word and Excel.

Full-time, 40 hours per week, with cross-training to the Cartersville pulmonary office as needed. Benefits eligible with a comprehensive total rewards package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access and insurance experience preferred.
• Experience with scheduling, registration and financial clearance preferred.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel and ADT software; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and monitor flow to maintain efficient, courteous service.
• Verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy.
• Complete registration for walk-ins and update demographics as needed.
• Collect patient out-of-pocket obligations and balances; assist with financial clearance.
• Refer financial assistance needs to Financial Counselor; ensure proper documentation.
• Close visits, schedule follow-ups, and provide necessary documents.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and payer requirements for approval.
• Communicate issues to management and support process improvements.
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets; support a collaborative team environment.
