Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center in Cartersville, GA, seeks a Part‑time Front Desk/Patient Access specialist for Pulmonary Medicine. Schedule is Monday–Friday 8:00–5:00 with 3 days/24 hours per week, potential to turn full‑time. Benefits eligible with a pay range of $19.80–$29.70 per hour.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance, completing registrations, and guiding patients through financial clearance. Prior experience in scheduling and billing is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a high‑stress environment.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients arriving for their appointments and manages patient flow for efficiency and courtesy.
• Ensures all patient demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate.
• Completes registration on walk‑in patients and collects out‑of‑pocket amounts; updates information as needed.
• Follows Financial Clearance policy; refers patients to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Performs visit closure including scheduling follow‑ups and collecting balances.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance requirements, pre‑authorization and current plans.
• Communicates issues to management for process improvement.
