Job summary

Advocate Health in Cartersville, GA is seeking a patient access representative to greet patients, register walk-ins, verify insurance and collect balances. You will maintain Medicare, Medicaid and third‑party payer knowledge, support Financial Counselor referrals, and ensure high accuracy and courteous service.

The role requires great communication, HIPAA awareness, and proficiency with Outlook and Excel. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7 am–4 pm, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Patient access experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA and EMTALA rules.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients arriving for appointments and manages patient flow.
• Verifies and updates patient demographic and insurance information.
• Completes registration for walk-in patients and updates changes.
• Collects and estimates patient financial responsibility and past due balances.
• Adheres to Financial Clearance policy and directs patients to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization rules.
• Performs visit closure and schedules follow-up appointments.
