Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking a friendly, organized receptionist to serve as the first point of contact in ambulatory clinics. You will enter patient data, verify insurance, and manage appointment scheduling with a focus on accuracy and empathy.

Ideal candidates demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, excel at multi-tasking, and can work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays. Experience with office equipment and a multi-line phone system is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner.
• Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system.
• Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Ability to effectively read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for patients in ambulatory clinics.
• Enter patient data into registration system and verify insurance coverage.
• Schedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments.
