Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a friendly ambulatory clinic receptionist to be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. You will perform general clerical and registration duties, verify insurance, and coordinate appointments in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Ideal candidates will have strong customer service, proficient data entry, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training and support are provided in a collaborative hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Must be able to work weekends/holidays.
• Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner.
• Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system.
• Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Ability to effectively read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics.
• Perform general clerical and reception duties.
• Enter patient data into the registration system.
• Verify insurance and/or third party coverage.
• Schedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments.
