Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Referral Management Specialist to support the referral process in a busy call center. You will triage calls, schedule appointments across specialties, and collect accurate patient data to ensure smooth operations and revenue cycle support.

Under supervision, you’ll collaborate with clinical teams, maintain high-quality customer service, and help improve access to care for patients and referring physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in a medical office, call center, patient access area, or customer service in a business environment is required.
• Typing speed of 35 CWPM required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for individuals and referring physicians seeking access and referral information.
• Triages patient calls according to established algorithms and schedules appointments for multiple specialties.
• Answers questions, resolves issues and refers to appropriate clinical team.
• Performs quality data collection of demographic, physician, insurance and other information.
