Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is seeking a Referral Management Specialist I to serve as an expert in scheduling and access across specialties within our call center environment. You will triage patient calls, coordinate referrals, and advocate for patients while collaborating with clinical teams to meet patient needs in a single call.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and two years in a medical office, call center, or customer service role; typing 35 CWPM; Windows/Excel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years' experience in a Medical Office, Call Center, and/or customer service environment.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Windows, Excel, and Internet/Intranet navigation tools.
• Strong verbal, written, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
• Typing speed of 35 CWPM.
• College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments across multiple specialties within a call center environment.
• Triage patient calls, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and referring patients to the appropriate clinical team.
• Act as the primary advocate for patients, coordinating requests and needs during a single phone call.
• Maintain current knowledge of all services and protocols, including handling incoming scheduling and clinical calls, faxes, and referrals.
• Meticulously collect demographic information, physician details, insurance, employment, next of kin, and emergency contacts.
• Collaborate with physicians and departmental partners to ensure quality patient access.
