Job summary

Hospital for Special Surgery seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support scheduling, pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance using Epic. The role focuses on accurate information capture, patient communication, and smooth patient flow within a busy orthopedic setting.

As a PAS I, you will work with clinical and revenue-cycle teams to resolve routine access barriers, ensure privacy, and provide excellent patient service in person or over the phone.

Qualifications

• Experience in patient access, front-desk or registration roles preferred.
• Familiarity with Epic scheduling/registration workflows is a plus.
• Ability to handle confidential information in accordance with policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, compassionate service to patients and families in person and by phone.
• Schedule, pre-register, and register patients following established workflows.
• Collect, review, and scan IDs, insurance cards, signed forms, and other documents into the patient record.
• Verify benefits and document coverage information; collect copayments as required.
