Job summary

Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking a Patient Access Specialist (PAS I) to support scheduling, pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance using the Epic system. You will collect demographics and insurance information, explain requirements, and help patients navigate access-related processes in person and by phone.

You will collaborate with clinical and revenue cycle teams to maintain smooth patient flow, resolve routine access barriers, and escalate non-routine issues as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in patient access or front-desk roles.
• Proficiency with Epic or similar patient registration systems.
• Strong communication and confidentiality in handling patient information.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional service to patients and families across in-person and phone interactions.
• Schedule, pre-register, and register patients using Epic following established workflows.
• Collect and verify demographics, insurance details, and personal information and document them accurately.
• Explain registration requirements and patient financial responsibility clearly to patients.
• Support patient flow by coordinating with clinical and revenue cycle teams and escalating complex issues as needed.
