Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Lanham, MD is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide patient services and administrative support in ancillary operations. You will greet families, verify demographics, collect insurance information, and register patients for ED, lab and radiology as needed.

You will work under supervision, schedule follow-ups, explain charges, and ensure authorization and referrals are obtained in advance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of administrative processes and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accurate scheduling using the department system.
• Verify charge codes match diagnoses and enter data for registration.
• Collect demographic and insurance information and update systems.
• Complete bedside registration for ED patients and schedule follow-ups.
• Greet patients/parents courteously and obtain required consents.
• Verify insurance eligibility and pre-authorization prior to procedures.
• Handle cash collections and ensure daily office operations.
