Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking a friendly Patient Access Representative to join the Patient Registration team in Lanham, MD. You will greet families, verify demographics and insurance, and support scheduling to ensure a smooth care journey for pediatric patients.

Responsibilities include scheduling, collecting information, processing registrations, and communicating with patients, families, and staff with professionalism and care. Prior experience and strong computer skills are needed.

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of administrative processes and strong customer service skills.
  • Computer knowledge required; Microsoft Office experience preferred.
  • Typing speed minimum 35 words per minute; complete Patient Access training and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate accuracy in scheduling using the department system and verify charge codes.
  • Enter patient information into billing/registration systems and obtain required consents.
  • Collect demographic and insurance information; ensure data accuracy and HIPAA compliance.
  • Answer phones, manage inquiries, and maintain office files to support smooth registration processes.
  • Support cash collection, billing preparation, and bedside/clinic registration as needed.
