Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Lake Forest, IL is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to support patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will collect demographics, perform eligibility checks, and provide exceptional service while maintaining HIPAA compliance and accurate data entry using Epic and related systems.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
2-3 years customer service or medical office experience.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to multi-task.
Customer service oriented.
Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

Responds to questions and concerns and maintains patient confidentiality.
Collects and verifies patient demographic information per standards.
Schedules appointments and coordinates with departments and physicians.
Performs basic medical necessity checks and communicates options if needed.
Provides outstanding customer service and resolves issues with escalation when required.
Uses Epic and other systems to print orders and verify insurance eligibility.
Ensures data quality and participates in training and process improvements.
